Stephen Wilkonski is an industry leading Digital Design Specialist. His skill as a designer is in developing 3D models in Alias and creating photorealistic computer renderings in Maya. Steve earned his Bachelors of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute and has over 20 years experience in product and transportation design.
Wilkonski's experience started as a professional model maker in New York for the advertising industry and transitioned into the product design industry where he worked for 6 years. He has been involved in several patents for both product design and wheel and a brake system. Moving to Michigan, Wilkonski Worked with IAS to support design for companies such as GM, Volvo Truck, Delphi and JCI. He has been a proponent of Digital Design and has helped companies make the transition into the digital realm of design. At ASC, Wilkonski was the Digital Design Manager responsible for a team of Alias sculptors producing Class A surface on interior and exterior vehicles. His work can be seen in such vehicles as the Chevy SSR, Cadillac V-Series, International truck LoneStar Harley edition and various show vehicles.
In addition to his time at ASC, Wilkonski worked with GM’s Global Brand Studio to develop branding language and accessories to promote the brand to a younger market. Examples of this can be seen in the new marketing of Chevy.
Wilkonski has been an instructor at the College for Creative Studies where he has taught Alias to students in Industrial Design. In 2007 Steve was awarded Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Steve’s commitment to the students at CCS can be seen in his involvement with their projects. He’s help support student models for AISI, PACE, PPG, Michelin, Chrysler and Ferrari. In the fall of 2010, his students placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in both categories of the Michelin competition with the winners work displayed at the 2011 North American Auto Show.
Wilkonski is the President of Revolution Design Studios. Formed in 2007, RDS works with automotive and product companies to develop design solutions using state of the art technology. Examples of work by Wilkonski and Revolution Design Studios can be seen in such vehicles as the Rossion Q1, RCR Camaro, 2010 Saleen Mustang and the 2011 Delahaye USA Bella Figura Coupe.
In the fall of 2010 Wilkonski traveled to China to attend a conference on Industrial Design. There he lectured about the design process and understanding the value of branding and design. This marks Wilkonski's second trip to the Asia. In 2007 he traveled to S. Korea on behalf of Autodesk to speak at a design conference hosted by Hyundai.
Wilkonski continues to expand his relationship with students and companies and looks forward to the design challenges presented to him.
