Scott Anderson

Scott Anderson is an innovative, solutions oriented, dedicated, and passionate automotive designer with a highly creative and technical background. He has specialized in high quality and attractive automotive exterior and interior designs, product designs, architecture and graphic designs; and has worked in the automotive, defense, and consumer product industries. He's worked in large and small corporations, small companies, and individually as a freelance designer for 18+ years, and has a high degree of design, packaging and concept development experience.

Anderson has worked in many product development and leadership roles within Ford, Chrysler, DaimlerChrysler, Lotus Engineering, and General Motors, as well as freelance work for Hasbro, TOMCAR, Ricardo Engineering, American Speed Company and Bright Automotive, I have a high level of experience balancing customer needs, aesthetics, packaging, manufacturing, regulatory and business model requirements through a wid e range of product development processes in a wide variety of industries, markets and corporate cultures. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Transportation Design from the College for Creative Studies (2003), a Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Chrysler Institute of Engineering(CIE Program) / Oakland University (1999), and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University (1997) I not only have practical hands on experience, but a solid technical and creative educational foundation that has formed a unique outlook on product design and development. The Rotational assignments throughout Chrysler in the CIE Program spanned many disciplines from Design, to motorsports, product development and manufacturing launches. Working from conceptual and design spaces to coarse packaging and through to final product development and manufacturing, my background and experience spans the entire product development proce ss, fr om pen on paper to manufacturing assembly. Leadership experience starts from an early age as an Eagle Scout, through leadership roles in the Society of Automotive Engineers and Formula SAE competition, the Chrysler CIE Leadership Development Program, Sr. Lead Designer, Internship Program Manager, Design mentor, and educator at the College for Creative Studies (2008-present). I have led small teams of designers and engineers as well as large vehicle program teams, through many concept and production design programs. As the Lead Designer for the 2008 Jeep Renegade concept, Jeep and Dodge production interior midsize programs, Design Director at Lotus Engineering on several Defense product development and full vehicle mass reduction programs, and Sr. Lead Architectural Designer at General Motors Global Architecture studio, I take a global, high level approach to problem solving, and an integrated form and function approach to design, pushing innovation where appropriate , with a pragmatic approach to execution. Utilizing a left and right brain approach, I tackle solutions to problems with a holistic aerial view to total product development.
