Richard Branstner has over 25 years experience in design and design management. He was industrial design chief for a Fortune 100 corporation and the recipient of numerous awards, both domestic and international, including the Industrial Design Excellence Award and Industrial Design Leadership Award.
Branstner teaches Advanced Product Design II and Professional Development Studio at the College for Creative Studies. He was selected as instructor for the Whirlpool sponsored Kitchen of the Future design project and the Kohler sponsored Bathroom of the Future advanced design project. He also serves on the MFA Graduate Program review committee. Several of his students have received awards in prestigious international design competitions.
Outside of the classroom, Branstner is a board member of the Open Road Foundation, a Michigan non-profit organization providing those with special needs freedom and mobility through custom designed products and equipment. He has been an active member of the Detroit Old Newsboys Goodfellow Organization for over 20 years.
Fun fact: World renowned architect Minoru Yamasaki provided the toast at Branstner’s wedding.
