Michelle Lannoo

Research Interests:

Typography, Lettering, Communication Design, Environmental Design

Professional Experience:

Beginning as an apprentice at Skidmore Studio, her first professional role was at Premier Communications, where she worked as a Graphic Designer for nearly six years. With an interest in the physicality of design, she accepted a position at JPRA Architects, developing environmental and interior graphics. A freelance career followed, as Four Design and Photo, providing design and photography for manufacturing and independent businesses throughout Detroit.

Today, Michelle has found her place at Ideation Signs & Communication in Royal Oak. With years of print design experience and a zealous interest in signage and space, Ideation provides the opportunity to apply her creativity and enthusiasm for great design.

BFA in Graphic Communication from College for Creative Studies-Detroit and serves as adjunct faculty at CCS. Michelle is on the Board of Directors for SRO Institute of Music. She is a member of AIGA Detroit and SEGD-the society for experiential graphic design.

Artcrank at Shinola | Detroit | 2015
Detroit area artists selected to design and produce limited edition prints. Sale of prints benefit Back Alley Bikes, a nonprofit bicycle shop and community center that provides cycling education and services with a focus on youth development, sustainable practices and community access.

The Printer's Devil | Scarab Club, Detroit | 2016
Group exhibition presenting evidence of a flourishing printmaking community in Detroit. The exhibition brings into focus the methods, madness and creative fruit associated with the processes of letterpress, relief, risograph, silkscreen and other “less formal” and DIY printing procedures being put into practice by Detroit’s unique creative community.
