Event Assistant (part-time/temporary)

Position summary:

The Events Assistant will assist the department of Institutional Advancement by providing administrative and logistical fundraising event support for the Detroit International Wine Auction, the College’s signature fundraising event.

Assignment dates: Approximately Mid-August – November 1, 2014

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overall assistance with planning and execution of the 32nd Detroit International Wine Auction (DIWA) to benefit the College for Creative Studies
  • Oversee inventory management for DIWA including entry of donors and items donated in Greater Giving; pick-up and delivery of items from donors; and packing and labeling items for auction
  • Must be available to work the entire week of October 13 and all day on October 18 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.)
  • Execute logistics related to DIWA
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for use at DIWA
  • Interact with top individual and corporate donors to the College
  • Perform data entry
  • Maintain files and event binders
  • Assist with creative writing and acknowledgement letters
  • Post-event delivery of items, organizing the wine room, maintaining sign-out sheet of items picked-up or delivered

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, energetic with positive demeanor
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with fundraising event planning, Greater Giving and the Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Requires minimal supervision; able to handle multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Problem-solving skills

Commitment:

  • Part-time, temporaty August through the end of October
  • Some evening hours the week of the event
