Adjunct Faculty – Illustration
Job Description:
The College for Creative Studies invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Illustration Department for Winter 2010. The Department seeks candidates who have extensive experience in traditional and digitally-based illustration. Responsibilities include: Participating in the ongoing development of curriculum which focuses on conceptual skills and prepares students to compete in areas of video game development, storyboarding, and animatics for film and TV. Teaching narrative image making through utilization of current digital technology in conjunction with traditional mediums. Developing market awareness. Mentoring students. Participating in Departmental activities and committees. Serving on CCS faculty committees. Handling other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Job Requirements:
The candidate should have an MFA in applied arts with a minimum of 4 years of experience as a conceptual artist in entertainment or video game development. Candidate’s work must demonstrate expertise in 2d and 3d digital tools. Designs and/or illustrates concepts through sketches, painting and storyboards for feature films and/or video games. Excellent painting and drawing skills (traditional and digital). Excellent Maya skills in modeling, texturing, lighting. Binding, rigging in both modeling of 3D characters and environments. Strong ZBrush skills. Good knowledge of anatomy and design. Demonstrate instructional abilities in digital and traditional media. Ability to communicate well and mentor students with strong connections to the industry. Familiarity with non-linear editing programs like Final Cut Pro and After Effects is a plus. Strong interest in areas such as new technologies, marketing and design is vital. Evidence of having taught new and innovative illustration courses preferred.
