Administrative Assistant – Industrial Design
Job Description:
The Administrative Assistant position is part-time, 30 hours per week, for nine months (Aug 15 – May 15). The position’s primary responsibility is to provide general administrative support for the Chairpersons of Product Design and Transportation Design, in collaboration with the Department Administrator. Two key skills are specific computer proficiency and writing. Additional responsibilities specific to the position include: Researching on the web and other sources curricula matters, benchmarking competitive programs, international design competitions, etc., and writing the relevant summaries; Coordinate and manage student submissions for international design competitions; Creating and maintaining a Product Design and Transportation Design department digital visual archive; Compiling and writing the initial drafts of the departments’ monthly reports for both Academic Affairs and CCS News; Editing faculty and chairs’ correspondence as required; Coordination of corporate and other VIP’s visits; Taking meeting minutes and creating reports as required; Coordination of chair, faculty and student travel arrangements, and managing the related documentation (budget expenditure, etc); Additional duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Ideal candidate will have a BA or equivalent; worked in an administrative capacity in either business or academia; have outstanding computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office software, and expertise in image management software such as iView MediaPro or similar, as well as Adobe Photoshop. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent writing ability; excellent computer skills; maturity to manage confidential student, faculty and department business; self-motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, proactive and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities; interest in design and the arts is preferred; willingness to work with a highly diverse team of talented and creative people.
