Creative teens (ages 13-19) can spend a full week creating art, sharing ideas, connecting with peers, and learning from professional artist instructors. Each concentration poses a design challenge and familiarizes you with the creative process phases: brainstorming, concept development, ideation and final implementation. All sessions will be taught in CCS’s state-of-the-art facilities on the Ford Campus. Try a new material learn new techniques with a favorite medium, or work in a studio you haven’t yet explored. Glass: Slumping and Fusing
This fusing and slumping workshop will ask students to design a glass piece that meets a design challenge by exploring basic techniques of working with hot glass. Work in CCS’s state-of-the-art glass studio with an expert glass artist. No experience necessary.

Painting: Life and Landscape
Great paintings use simple design principles to encourage eye movement through hierarchies of information and imagery. You will learn to apply these principles of value organization into works paintings of your very own. Learn the tools and apply them to your unique point of view and expression. Work through collage, sketch and final design phases in in preparation for creating a final work using acrylic paint application techniques.

Ceramics
Combine hand-building with mold and casting techniques to create multiples that are functional or fine art. Combine 2D design methods to the 3D practice of sculpture: such as line, shape and balance. Work through sketch, design planning and repeat-process, and build phases in preparation for combining multiple pieces into a unified final work.

Design and build your vision in metal and wood. You will be challenged to combine materials and techniques effectively while getting training and access to the metal and wood production shops.

Animation: Stop motion and Clay
Combine story-telling with technology and sculpture. Learn the techniques used to create animated characters and stories. You will design and sculpt your own unique clay characters, develop a narrative and using story boards and planning tools to make it all come to life through animation. Come with an idea or story, or develop one while working hands-on in our animation labs.

Jewelry and Design
Create jewelry of your own design by learning how to use the tools and materials required to form sheet and wire metal into 3D objects. Hammering, bending and soldering techniques will be taught. Student initiated projects are encouraged, or assigned projects can be tailored to student’s skill level.
