Young Artists Program for Kids (ages 8-12)

Our Young Artist Program classes are designed to introduce and expand young artists to new processes, technologies and methods of art-making and design. Students are introduced to brainstorming and concept development methods that encourage innovation and creativity. Enroll in one or all our Second Saturday sessions!

Early enrollment dates allow you to take advantage of tuition discounts (see details next to each course description). No prior experience is necessary to enroll.

Lunch is not provided, so parents need to send a suitable lunch.

An Emergency Medical Form must be completed for each student enrolled, each term. Please download, complete and submit the form when you sign in for your first class. Parents/Guardians will be asked to verify current information at each check in.

Auto Design
Learn and apply drawing principles specific to auto-design (perspective, proportion, accuracy of shape) while also taking inspiration from car designs of the past.

Create your own comics universe, complete with characters and setting, and practice telling a story with a beginning, middle and end. Learn about page design and panel composition, including framing, thumbnails, speech, thought and narration

Working in 3D is more than working with craft sticks and pipe cleaners. This class will introduce students to a wide array of sculptural works from found-object art, to public sculpture, installation works, and fine-crafted furniture. Each student will work to design and create a 3d concept model of their original concept for a large-scale, public art piece including material preferences, colors and basic orthographic drawings.

Intro to Digital Illustration
Combine traditional hand drawing skills with digital rendering techniques to create finished digital illustrations. This class will introduce the use of the Wacom tablet with basic Adobe Illustrator tools.

Register and search current class offerings. Credit card payment is required when registering for Precollege & Continuing Studies classes via the web. You will not be charged until you register for a class.

Some partial scholarship funds are available to families who qualify. Applications are only reviewed if a specific course(s) are identified in the application form. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and are granted on a space-available basis. Applications submitted for fall or winter term must be re-submitted for summer term if family wishes to be considered for additional support.
