Interior Design

Studies reveal that the design of our environment has the power to impact our health, education, productivity and overall quality of life. With so much at stake, clients need interior design professionals who have the experience and knowledge to make the best decisions and implementations for their space.
Interior design is the perfect marriage of art and architecture. Beyond creating aesthetic appeal, designers focus on ways to make spaces more functional and effective.
CCS's Interior Design program integrates study of color, light, texture and balance to create the ultimate environments for future clients. Additionally, the program is accredited by CIDA (Council of Interior Design Accreditation).
What Sets Us Apart?
Emphasis on Concept and Creative Thinking
Being a part of an art and design college gives CCS’ Interior Design department a unique advantage. Students are taught to push their concepts and focus on creative thinking. This artistic thought process is different than many schools and helps our students to develop the unique thinking that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
Detroit
Detroit’s redevelopment endeavors include sustainable design efforts, resulting in many hands-on opportunities for students to become involved in the community and increase their knowledge of this growing field.
Resources
The classroom environment mirrors that of a working design studio. Students have countless resources available to them, including a materials library – stocked with the most up-to-date design materials, donated from industry. Also available is a large-format plotter that allows students to explore different types of presentation and printing techniques, as well as Revit, the architectural software used by leading industry professionals.
