  2. 07 May 2010 Winners of the 2010 CCS Alumni Scholarship Competition announced

    CCS full-time freshman, sophomore and junior students participated in the annual CCS Alumni Scholarship Competition. A committee of CCS alumni reviewed the 47 submissions and was impressed by the high caliber of the work.

    CCS Crafts – Glass students, faculty and alumni are participating 30th Michigan Glass Month. The annual April event, serves to educate and promote public awareness for the varied glass arts and their uses in industry, in the home and in ART, and to focus on the Michigan artists who use glass as their means of artistic expression.   5. 22 Mar 2010 CCS Crafts Ceramics and Art Furniture departments holds art Sale

    Throughout the week of March 22 the work of CCS Ceramics and Art Furniture students and faculty is on sale in the Yamasaki Atrium on the CCS Campus. All proceeds from the sale of the cups, mugs, bowls, teapots, serving trays, vases, and shelves will support students who will be attending conferences this spring. The sale is from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily and ends on Friday, March 26.

  6. 17 Mar 2010 Department Highlights - Crafts

    Maxwell Davis, professor, was included in a Detroit Artists Market show called DAM Design Show 2010. The American Glass Guild accepted Professor Herb Babcock’s proposal to give a slide lecture this summer on the four stained glass projects he conducted as CCS class projects over the past 30 years. Student John Orland was chosen as the recipient for the 2010 Penland School of Crafts Scholarship. Susan Moran, adjunct faculty, had a piece accepted into the U.S. State Department Art in the Embassies program. Student James Frackert Jr. was awarded the Karnig Dabanian Memorial Scholarship for the winter 2010 semester.

  7. 24 Feb 2010 Department Highlights - Crafts

    Herb Babcock, professor, met with Mark Wollenweber, city manager of Grosse Pointe Woods, regarding a possible community service project that involves a glass class creating a public art project for a city municipal building. Susan Aaron-Taylor, professor, has several mixed media sculptures on display in a group exhibition at the River Gallery Fine Arts in Chelsea. Alumna Megan Harris ‘07 is now the community puppets manager at the Matrix Theatre Company in Detroit.

  10. 19 May 2009 Winners of the 2009 CCS Alumni Scholarship Competition announced

    The Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 with a gift from married alumni who met while taking the same class at CCS. Throughout the years the fund has been maintained by gifts from many CCS alumni. CCS freshman, sophomore and junior students enrolled full-time are annually invited to enter the competition, which asks for 3 images of recent work and a statement of intent. This year the competition received 50 entries.
