CCS Crafts - Glass students, faculty and alumni participate in Michigan Glass Month activities

CCS Crafts – Glass students, faculty and alumni are participating 30th Michigan Glass Month. The annual April event, serves to educate and promote public awareness for the varied glass arts and their uses in industry, in the home and in ART, and to focus on the Michigan artists who use glass as their means of artistic expression. March 28 – May 13 - “STATE OF THE GLASS”
This exhibit features the exquisite artistry of glass including the College for Creative Studies students, alumni, and faculty. Located at Janice Charach Epstein Gallery/Jewish Community Center (6600 West Maple Rd, West Bloomfield, MI 48322, 248.432-5579, www.jccdet.org)
Gallery Hours: Mon.-Wed. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thur. 10 am. – 7 p.m., Sun. 12 – 4 p.m.

April 1 – 30 - “A GLASSY OCCASION”
Opening Reception: Sat. April 24th, 6-8 p.m.
This exhibit includes glass in sculptural, decorative and functional forms and features the work of alumni John Steiner, Chris Nordin, Michelle Plucinsky, Bruce Grauf and Israel Nordin, Located at Orchard Lake Framing & Gallery (4301 Orchard Lake Rd, Ste. 120, West Bloomfield, MI 48323/Cross Winds Mall, 248.538.9021, www.orchardlakeframing.com)
Gallery Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thur. 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and by appt.

April 8 – 23 - “GLASS HORIZONS”
This exhibit features the work of CCS glass students: Manda Barnes, Matt Cattanach, Henry Crissman, Jimmy Fackert, Katie Hammond, Meghan Harvey, David Helm, Jamie Hickey, Nicole Housey, Chelsea Labbe, Tim Southward and Ian Zapico. Located in the in the Yamasaki Atrium Gallery on the College for Creative Studies Ford Campus (201 E. Kirby, Detroit MI 48202).
Gallery Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

April 9 – May 14 - “THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN – DEARBORN COLLECTS”
Work by Herb Babcock is included in this exhibit which celebrates the 50 anniversary of UM-D and 30 years of collecting. Located at The Alfred Berkowitz Gallery/University of Michigan–Dearborn (4901 Evergreen Rd, 3070 ML, Dearborn, MI 48128, 313.593.3592, www.umd.umich.edu).

April 15 – 30 – “Daily Activities”
Highlight the innovative, artistic visions taking form as the expert glass blowing team creates fascinating works of art daily, including three days of “special features” highlighting the artisan’s unique talents of alumni Josh Wojick and Steven Jacklyn. Located at the Greenfield Village Glass Shop, The Henry Ford (20900 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, MI 48124, 313.982.6001, www.thehenryford.org).

April 23 – May 3 - “THE WORK OF LESLIE PATRON, BILL POCETA AND PAUL RUNDE”
This exhibit features the latest work of these three nationally represented, diverse artists including CCS alumnus Bill Poceta. Located at Michigan Hot Glass Workshop (Russell Industrial Center, 1604 Clay Ave, 2nd Floor, Detroit, MI 48211, ph248.200.8153).

April 23 – May 23
The work of Albert Young is featured in this exhibit with painter Steve Replogle. Located at Michigan Hot Glass Workshop (Russell Industrial Center, 1604 Clay Ave, 2nd Floor, Detroit, MI 48211, ph248.200.8153). Gallery Hours: Sat. – Sun. 12 – 6 p.m. and by appointment.

April 24 – May 23 - “38TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL GLASS INVITATIONAL AWARD EXHIBITION”
Opening Reception: Sat. April 24th, 8 p.m.
The oldest and largest contemporary glass exhibit in the world includes faculty Herb Babcock, Max Davis, and Albert Young and alumni Richard Ritter and Sally Rogers. Located at Habatat Galleries (4400 Fernlee Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073, phone - 248.554.0590, www.habatat.com).
