The Creative Outlet - Fall 2009

It has been a busy semester at the College for Creative Studies! The school reached record enrollment, the MFA program launched and the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education opened. CCS has spread its wings and is now operating on two sites, the original site on Kirby Street and the second site in the New Center Area. It’s a time for change, and what better way to learn more about it than to read the latest edition of The Creative Outlet!

Futurist and illustrator Syd Mead juries alumni exhibition at CCS

Artist, futurist, illustrator and conceptual designer Syd Mead is jurying an upcoming exhibition at CCS’s Center Galleries. “reVIEW: Alumni Selections by Syd Mead” will include work in all media and disciplines by CCS alumni. For the full story, follow this link.

A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education opens for classes

In September, CCS expanded to two sites when it opened the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education. In addition to the undergraduate design majors, the Taubman Center is also home to Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies, a public middle and high school with a strong focus on art and design education, as well as the College’s new MFA programs. This unique facility is truly an integrated educational community devoted to art and design, extending from middle school through graduate school and beyond.

Career Services

The Office of Career Services is dedicated to exposing alumni to professional development opportunities and resources that will aid them in identifying and obtaining their personal career goals. CCS Class Rings

Class rings are now available through the Office of Student Life. The rings come in three styles: a signet ring with the College seal, a concave band or a convex band. The band-style rings feature "The College for Creative Studies" in scripted print or the letters "CCS" in a more contemporary style. The cost of the rings range from $299 to $599, depending on style and type of metal you select.

If you would like to see the rings in person stop by the Office of Student Life during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also order and view the rings online at www.balfour.com.
