Alumni Exhibitions
Glenn Barr (GC-IL ’86) had his first solo show in seven years this past October/November at the 323East Gallery in Royal Oak, which is run by alumni Dan Armand (IL ‘05) and April Segedi (FA ’07). New works by Paloma Rosales (GC ’75) were in an exhibit called, “Solderadas” at the Honora Bird Gallery in Lansing, Michigan. Paloma’s work for this exhibit focused on women of the Mexican Revolution of 1910.

In November, Mare Costello (FA ‘95) had an exhibition at the Ferndale clothing store House of Chants. The show featured Mare’s ‘Lamination’ artwork. LAMINATION is a system of connecting laminated color photos and or solid multi colored laminant together in what has been coined as "techno quilts" and other creations.
Rachel Reynolds (FA ’00) was part of an exhibition called “Studies of Place & Views of Space” at the City Gallery in the William M. Costick Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
dcHaus (aka Daryl Collins (GC-IL ’89)) had an exhibit during the month of October called “Con●Toured” at the SOLO Bar in the Lower Queen Anne district of Seattle.
Heather Hansma (IL ’07) had an exhibition called “Bunderland” in October at Five15 in Royal Oak. The show was Heather’s first solo exhibition after participating in a number of group shows. You can learn more about Heather and her work at www.hansmaillustration.com.
Alumni Jacklyn Brickman (FA ’05), Lisa Poszywak (FA ’09) and Robert Mirek (FA ’79) were part of a group show at Work●Detroit called “Migration.” The exhibition dealt broadly with migration, identity, and conflict and offered multiple interpretations in a variety of mediums.
Monica Breen (PH ‘93) had an exhibition at the Butcher’s Daughter gallery in Ferndale. “Constructed Nature: A Study of Feminine Affections” used photography and installation to explore contemporary presumptions of female identity and nature.
Console #3Mark Sengbusch
Mark Sengbusch (FA ’02) is part of a group show called “Winter Kunstkammer: Part 1” at the Walter Randal Gallery in Chelsea. The show runs through January 30 and includes work from antiquity through today. An image of Mark’s piece, “Console #3,” can be seen st the left. Mark has been living in Brooklyn, New York for the past year.
Kyohei Abe (PH ’99) is part of a group exhibition called “The Trace of Archive and Memory” at the Butcher’s Daughter gallery in Ferndale. Works in the show include those produced using collage, mixed-media installation, painting, photography, prints, and video. This exhibition focuses on the trace of archive and memory as it pertains to the creation of an artist's work. The show runs through December 23.
The Brown and Juanita C. Ford Gallery at Wayne County Community College District is currently hosting an exhibition called “The Creators: Self-Portraits” featuring the work of a number of CCS alumni. Taurus Burns (FA ’02), Dani Douglas (FA ’08), Matthew Hanna (FA ’86), Cliff Harris (GC ’96), Richard Lewis (FA ’91), Deborah Marlowe Kashdan (FA ’80), Sabrina Nelson (FA ’91), Craig Paul Nowak (FA ’06), Lisa Poszywak (FA ’09), Brandon Scott (FA ’09) and Heather Williams (FA ’08) are among the artists included in the exhibition. The show runs through January 30 at the college’s downtown campus.
