It is March, the month of that comes in like a lion, brings us daylight savings time and shamrock shakes, and signals the official start of spring. And, it’s time for another exciting edition of The Creative Outlet!
ID Alum Part of Award-winning Film Team Oscar, Golden Globe and VES Awards
Pixar's "Wall-E" was the animated darling of the film industry in 2008, winning both an Oscar and a Golden Globe award for Best Animated Feature. CCS is very proud of alumnus Jay Shuster (ID-93), who designed the film's feature characters, Wall-E and Eve. To read the full story, please click here.
Additionally, the film won the Visual Effects Society's awards for Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Character and Outstanding Effects Animation in an Animated Feature. Check out these video clips of the VES awards show.

Photo Project Captures the Spirit of Prominent Detroiters
Les Ward (PH -71) has spent the last 20 years working as a photographer in metro Detroit, servicing a number of automotive and advertising agency clients. For the past year, Les has been working on a project that combines his passion for photography with his love for the city of Detroit. For the full story, click here.

Passings
The College for Creative Studies is saddened by the loss of Maureen Obert Wilson (GC ’92). An award-winning designer, Maureen owned the firm Gotta Have It Graphics. In addition to attending CCS, she taught graphic design classes at the College for several years. Memories and messages of condolence may be left at www.lmstudio.com/maureen. CCS Class Rings Now Available
Class rings are now available through the Office of Student Life. The rings come in three styles: a signet ring with the College seal, a concave band or a convex band. The band-style rings feature "The College for Creative Studies" in scripted print or the letters "CCS" in a more contemporary style
The cost of the rings range from $299 to $599, depending on style and type of metal you select. If you would like to order a class ring or peruse the styles, you can stop by the Office of Student Life during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or contact us at 313-664-7879 or studentlife@collegeforcreativestudies.edu.
