Alumni Exhibitions

The Detroit Artists Market took a look at design with the DAM Design Show. This show examined the entire creative process from concept to design to creation of an artistic and functional piece. The DAM Design Show provided an intimate look into how design “happens”, and results in unique functional pieces. The work of several CCS alumni was featured in the show including Alex Porbe (ID-PR ’91), Gonzalo Rodriguez (ID ’94) and Graem Whyte (FA ‘96) in lighting design; Tom Carbone (CR ’02) with shoe design work; and hat designs by Ericia Bartels (CR ’05) and Annica Cuppetelli (CR ’05).

Scott Hocking (FA ’00) was featured in an exhibit at Ferndale’s Susanne Hilberry Gallery. The exhibit featured more than 60 photographs of urban industrial collapse. To read more about the show, visit http://detnews.com/article/20100121/ENT01/1210303.

Barbara Dorchen (FA ’77) is part of a group show called “Constructive Witticism” at the Buckham Gallery in Flint, MI. The exhibition runs through March 6.

Last fall, Robert Mirek (FA ’79) had a show at the Arnold Klein Gallery in Royal Oak, MI. The show featured paintings and sculpture that experimented with a variety of media. To see images, visit http://www.lmstudio.com/klein_show_2009/

George Rahme (FA ’07) was part of an exhibit at Fred Torres Collaborations in New York City. George’s work received a very positive review in Time Out New York magazine. Suzan Fant (FA ’81) was part of a show at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon.
