In addition to working as full-time welding and fabrication instructor at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Coley McLean is co-founder with painter Simone DeSousa of the Salt-Mine Studio, a multidisciplinary studio occupying 4,000-square-feet at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit, where she has held her sculpture, welding and fabrication, and casting studio practice since 1998. She was recently featured in an article in the Washtenaw Voice. McLean discuss how welding saved her life and how she pours passion not only into her work, but also into teaching the next generation of artists.
