CCS Illustration alumna’s design updates an iconic sneaker
Chuck Taylor “All Stars” by Converse, introduced in 1923, have been a casual footwear favorite for nearly a century. Available in dozens of colors and designs, the shoe’s many iterations make it consistently popular and often collectable. As a footwear graphics intern at Converse in summer 2016, Clair McIntire (’15, Illustration) got what many would consider the chance of a lifetime: to design a signature pair of “Chucks” that makes it into production.
McIntire’s Geo Panda design for the Converse All-Star lo-top is available exclusively at Journey’s and Underground Journey’s and is receiving raves. The canvas shoe features an allover geometric panda bear print graphic, lace up closure, and signature Converse rubber toe box.
McIntire works as a design apprentice at Reebok.
