College for Creative Studies (CCS) Raises Record Breaking Amount at 30th Detroit International Wine Auction DETROIT, Mich., Nov. 1, 2011 ‚?? The 30th Detroit International Wine Auction (DIWA), the primary fundraising event for the College for Creative Studies (CCS), was an astounding success raising more than $1.4 million and boasting a record breaking 506 guests. The auction held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the GM Wintergarden was chaired by CCS Trustee Jim Nicholson and his wife, Mary Beth, with CCS Trustee Tom Celani and his wife, Vicki, of Celani Family Vineyards as the Featured Vintners. As always, the Featured Vintner‚??s Grand Lot was a runaway success fetching two bids for $40,000 each. As a result, six lucky couples will embark on a trip to Celani Family Vineyards Guest House in Napa. Proceeds, from the annual event, support undergraduate student scholarships and free community arts programs delivered across Detroit. Currently 98 percent of CCS students receive financial aid and the free community art program provides free art and design education to more than 4,000 school-aged students annually.
