Seven CCS Advertising Student Entries Win Awards at The 6th Annual D Show
The D Awards recognizes top quality work created by the Detroit advertising community. At “The 6th Annual D Show” on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Max M. Fisher Music Center at Orchestra Hall, seven entries created by eight College for Creative Studies Advertising students received the coveted Ds.
Kristen Beasley’s “Horse Race” campaign for PETA, Breann Henderson’s “Preserves Fresh Scents” for Gain detergent, Anna Czuprynski’s “Peas Exercise” campaign for Del Monte vegetables, and “Stride Madness” for Stride gum created by Travis Yarrington and Stephen Kerry (AD ’12) won in Print categories. Matthew Stiel’s “It’s Not Rocket Science” campaign for Tide Pods won in the Integrated Branding Campaign category while Amy Sun’s “Refresh/Refill” for Vapur water and Kelly McGuckin’s (AD ’12) “Ski Off Grid” for Grown skis were awarded in the Digital Media category.
CCS Advertising alumni Vic Quattrin (AD ’10), Matt Arnold (AD ’10), Brian Bono (AD ’10), Brandi Keeler (AD ’11), and Derek Tent (AD ’12) were recognized for their work in the professional categories, including two “Best of Show” awards. Derek Tent and Leo Burnett Detroit won “Best of Social Media” as well as “Public Service Announcement (PSA),” “Interactive Advertising,” and “Digital Media – Social Media” awards for the “Book Burning Party” campaign for the Troy Public Library. Brian Bono (AD ’10) and Team Detroit won “Best of Digital Media” as well as an award for Digital Media Online Films & Video for “Rocket Science” for the 2013 Taurus for Ford Motor Company.
Vic and Brandi’s work on Team Detroit’s “Talk to Your Kids About Art School” campaign for College for Creative Studies was honored in the “Print” division as was Vic’s work on the “CCS Catalog” in the “Sales Promotion-Collateral-Catalog” category. Vic and Team Detroit also won in the “Innovative Media” category for the “Mustang Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Video” for Ford Motor Company. Matt Arnold (AD ’10) and Union Adworks were awarded in “The Craft-Video/Film Special Effects-Non-Commercial” for the “Dodge Dart NAIAS Intro Video” created for Chrysler Group LLC.
CCS Advertising students also volunteered for the Show, including Grady Bosheers and Juliana Hamilton as onstage assistants and Patricia Anthony and Samantha Meredith as setup assistants. Radical Media generously provided VIP show tickets for all CCS finalists that included Alexandra Olsen-Beever, Jack Douglas, Sarah Koupal, Hamed Habhab, Christina Mulligan, Mazen Ghamlouch, and Brandon Locke as well as the winners.
