SLAW pays homage to '60's TV with latest show
Anyone who grew up spending hours in front of the TV’s soft electric glow ignoring their mother’s warning about sitting too close will relate to retro artist SLAW’s new show.
SLAW, CCS Alum Kevin Stanislawski, latest exhibit “electric babysitter” is currently on display at the River’s Edge Gallery in Wyandotte. The show runs until the end of July and features work that hearkens to TV’s golden age where shows like The Munsters, Gilligan’s Island, the Addams Family and Bewitched occupied the minds of a generation that grew up in front of the “electric babysitter.”
SLAW is all about the jet set charm of the 1950s and ‘60s, when men dressed to the nines in dinner jackets and women were stylishly turned out in cocktail dresses. The Detroit-based artist’s work typically focuses on the sophisticated style of mid-century swinging singles, martinis and mad parties.
