The Valade Family Gallery, located on the first floor of the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education, presents exhibitions for and with students, faculty, CCS alumni and the community of Detroit on topics relevant to contemporary art and design practice today. Its focus is to establish educational linkages between the College and the community, and to provide a space for exhibitions that advance and support the academic departments of CCS.

Up There, Down Here is a preview of thesis work by the graduating seniors of the CCS Photography Department. Comprised of traditional and multimedia fine art photography, the artists explore themes such as identity, site, social commentary, documentation, and fashion.

Michigan Ceramics 2017 is one of the few US exhibitions of its caliber operated entirely by artists. This biennial exhibition and competition showcases the excellence of ceramic art across Michigan and neighboring states.

In April we present our annual CCS Alumni exhibition, juried by Edward T. Welburn, Jr., principle at Ed Welburn Design and retired VP of Global Design, General Motors. Previous jurors included JJ Curis (gallerist), Rebecca Hart (DIA Contemporary Art Curator), George N’Namdi (gallerist) and Jayson Mayden (Nike shoe designer).
