I walked away from CCS feeling completely satisfied with not only my education, but with myself as a designer, an artist, and a space planner. I was able to take what I learned into the workplace less than a month after graduating! And in New York City of all places!
- Lesley Mowry

I found that the collaboration between students of different majors was the best way to discuss, develop and critique work. Design is more enriched with different minds working together.
- Jessi Halliday

CCS' Interior Design degree program has been granted accreditation by CIDA

CIDA is the accrediting body for interior design higher education in the United States and Canada. Their visiting team spent four days on campus last spring evaluating classes, reviewing student work and interviewing faculty and students. CIDA reviewers commented on CCS’s engaged students and strong collection of faculty “with wonderful, professional backgrounds.” In addition, reviewers found CCS’s program to be very unique and unlike any program they reviewed. “We normally don’t find programs with so many strengths,” said the reviewing committee.

CCS students are in demand by employers from around the world, whose recruiters visit regularly to conduct interviews and review portfolios for internships and full-time positions. Employers of CCS interior design graduates include JGA Incorporated, Cagley & Tanner, Spin Design New York, Steelcase, Hamilton Anderson Associates, Herman Miller, among others.

About Council of Interior Design Accreditation

CIDA is an independent, non-profit accrediting organization for interior design education programs at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. For more than 35 years, this knowledge-driven organization has been passionately committed to the ongoing enrichment of the interior design profession through identifying, developing and promoting quality standards for the education of entry-level interior designers, and then encouraging, accrediting and supporting educational programs to aspire to those standards. The Council engages nearly 200 volunteers, all drawn from interior design practice and education, to carry out its work.

Picture yourself in a bare room – no paint, carpet, or furniture. Your challenge is to transform this space into an attractive and comfortable environment. It's not as easy as it sounds. The art of interior design requires knowledge of many different elements, from color and light to texture and balance. Interior designers must have the experience, knowledge, and skill to fuse these elements into a clever and unique space.

Through work with talented faculty and internship experience gained during junior and senior year, CCS students develop important connections with industry professionals. Using creative talents and skills acquired at CCS, interior design graduates go on to create their own distinct environments.

The Interior Design department brings local architects and designers into the classroom during midterms to provide "real life" critiques; students are exposed to the working world and the techniques and skills necessary to pursue their career goals. In addition, students have the opportunity to travel to New York City and Chicago to experience the interior design profession first-hand.

Whether CCS graduates choose to work at local interior design firms or at large multi-national corporations, there are many career opportunities available. By providing internships and studio projects, CCS ensures students are prepared for a career upon graduation.
