Let go, go, get out, change
what you see, change what you feel and most importantly,
change what you think. When you participate in De Program you choose
to place yourself in a new frame; you change your familiar. / The program is three intense weeks from July
6 to 26, 2008. The program includes two studio projects. Participants
will work with Bob van Dijk / NLXL (www.nlxl.nl) and members of Studio
Lust (www.lust.nl). The participants use studio facilities
in Den Haag, seat of the Dutch government on the coast,
30 minutes south of Amsterdam. / De Program is based
in the Netherlands and will include a four-day trip to Zurich. Outside
of studio activities, participants will visit with leading designers
in Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Zurich and other select
locations. / Why the Netherlands? The dutch design culture maintains
a connection with modern’s inception. Evident on the street, clients,
designers and society accept and encourage solutions
that respond to communication needs with an inventive twist, distinct
from other cultures. The design community in Zurich combines a storied
history with an inventive contemporary community contributing to
Zurich’s role as a historic, as well as contemporary center for design
thinking.
Who goes? In the past the program has included practicing designers,
design educators, graduate students and advanced undergraduate students
with backgrounds in the appropriate design discipline. Admission
is based on a portfolio review: 10 to 20 images on CD, DVD, or website
and a statement of intent. Students are eligible for three graduate
or undergraduate credits.
