Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies
Art and Design Focused Charter School
Grades 6, 7, and 9 beginning September 2009 – growing to grades 6-12 over the next four years.
Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies (HFA: SCS) is an art and design middle and high school that opened in September 2009 as a part of a new innovative learning community in the College for Creative Studies’ new Taubman Center for Design Education. The school opened in September with grades 6, 7, and 9 and will grow to grades 6 through 12 over the course of four years. HFA: SCS was developed jointly by Henry Ford Learning Institute (HFLI), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating public schools in public spaces, and the College for Creative Studies (CCS), a world leader in art and design education. HFA: SCS is part of a developing national network of small schools in America's urban centers -- all of the schools will be modeled after the groundbreaking Henry Ford Academy education model, first implemented in Dearborn, Michigan.
