Advertising Design Awards
- The Advertising Design department was selected to exhibit student work in the prestigious 14th annual One Club Student Exhibition in New York City, May 5 – 7, 2008
- Angelo Patrona and Jessie Gontko won awards in the 2007 Create Awards competition. Gontko won for Joust in the Outdoor Mobile, Mass Transit Exterior category and Patrona won for Originality in the Magazine Ad category.
- Fifteen Advertising Design student entries advanced as finalists in the D Show, and five won D awards. My Lou Vang won for the L’eggs Fishnet ad; Bob Basiewicz and Chris Pachal won for the Band Aid Finger Racers ad; Liz Kerner won for the Amnesty International Women’s Rights ad; David Mendoza, Jeff McMullen and Emily Wertanen won for the Morgan Stanly Start ad; and Angelo Patrona won for the Sharpie Markers Sharpies Revenge ad.
- Nancy Dao was chosen as a finalist for this year’s American Advertising Federation (AAF) Most Promising Minority Students Program.
- Brian Powers and Michelle Graham both won $2,500 tuition grants and paid summer internships as part of the MARS Advertising Shopper Marketing Scholarship Competition
- Jenna Przybycien and Jessica Ashburn each won $4,000 scholarships and summer internships with BBDO Detroit in the BBDO Allen Rosenshine Minority and Women’s Scholarship.
- A television spot, created for MDA during the SMZ Studio, titled Alarm won TV Gold at the 24th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards.
