In support of the 23rd Annual Dick Purtan Radiothon, Jose Sulaica, a senior Fine Arts and Art Education student at CCS designed artwork for a commemorative, collectible bread plate that served as the special incentive for donors who gave $240 more during this year’s Radiothon.
After a lengthy and extensive international search for a Fine Arts chair, top candidate Leon Johnson accepted the position and will assume the role in fall 2010.
In what has become an annual event, CCS and Wayne State University students participated in the annual Noel Night Ice Scraper Challenge.
The Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 with a gift from married alumni who met while taking the same class at CCS. Throughout the years the fund has been maintained by gifts from many CCS alumni. CCS freshman, sophomore and junior students enrolled full-time are annually invited to enter the competition, which asks for 3 images of recent work and a statement of intent. This year the competition received 50 entries.
Interior Design and Fine Arts students recently designed chairs for Art Van Furniture as part of the “Bring a Chair to the Table” Food Drive and Auction to benefit The Salvation Army Food Pantries.
Nicole Hugulet, a CCS Fine Arts sophomore with a minor in Art History, was recently awarded a scholarship for her work from the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors.
CCS Fine Arts department welcome sculptor Andrew Thompson to campus for a free public lecture on Thursday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. The lecture will be held in Kresge-Ford building in room C203 on the CCS campus.
CCS Fine Arts senior Steven Kuypers was recently awarded the 2009 CCS Ox-Bow Fellowship.
CCS alumnae Bridget Finn, Photography, ‘05 and Erin Sommerville, Fine Art were recently profiled in Interview magazine.
CCS’s Fine Arts Department is having its Small Drawing fundraiser, consisting of 5x7 works done by the Fine Arts students, faculty, and alumni on Wednesday, December 10 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
