The work of CCS Illustration department students, faculty and alumni will be exhibited in Art Under The Influence, March 5 – 27 at the Northville Art House.
In support of the 23rd Annual Dick Purtan Radiothon, Jose Sulaica, a senior Fine Arts and Art Education student at CCS designed artwork for a commemorative, collectible bread plate that served as the special incentive for donors who gave $240 more during this year’s Radiothon.
More than 20 CCS students participated in the 21st Hagopian Rug Design Competition, designing rug concepts that utilized the organic and natural fiber Hemp.
The 11th annual Children’s Book Society exhibition features 35 children’s book illustrations created by CCS Illustration students.
On December 15th, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and Let's Save Michigan issued an open call to artists, illustrators, and graphic designers for original posters to inspire Michiganders to revive their state. CCS students, faculty, and alumni answered that call with 13 selected out of over 300 entries as finalists.
Casey Wise, associate professor, had mezzotint prints exhibited at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in New Canaan, Connecticut. Winners of the 3 x 3 Magazine guest assignment challenge, given by the magazine’s publisher Charles Hively, were seniors Adam Ris and Keith Kochajda.
Somerset Collection awarded $3000 in scholarship money to three CCS Illustration students who designed the winning entries for the mall’s new shopping bags; a design from a fourth CCS student will also be produced.
The winners of the 20th Hagopian Rug Design Competition were recognized during an award ceremony at the 2009 CCS Student Exhibition.
With activities spread all around Detroit and Windsor the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) June 25 – 28 offers great events for the whole family - watch movies under the stars at the free drive-ins, walk the red carpet for premieres, laugh with your kids at the free Children's Film Festival and see how the industry works and how you can work for it at TechFair at College for Creative Studies (CCS).
CCS Illustration students were recently awarded the James S. Goldwasser Award for Excellence in Writing an annual honor given by the CCS Liberal Arts department.
