I walked away from CCS feeling completely satisfied with not only my education, but with myself as a designer, an artist, and a space planner. I was able to take what I learned into the workplace less than a month after graduating! And in New York City of all places!
- Lesley Mowry
I found that the collaboration between students of different majors was the best way to discuss, develop and critique work. Design is more enriched with different minds working together.

Picture yourself in a bare room – no paint, carpet, or furniture. Your challenge is to transform this space into an attractive and comfortable environment. It's not as easy as it sounds. The art of interior design requires knowledge of many different elements, from color and light to texture and balance. Interior designers must have the experience, knowledge, and skill to fuse these elements into a clever and unique space.
Through work with talented faculty and internship experience gained during junior and senior year, CCS students develop important connections with industry professionals. Using creative talents and skills acquired at CCS, interior design graduates go on to create their own distinct environments.
The Interior Design department brings local architects and designers into the classroom during midterms to provide "real life" critiques; students are exposed to the working world and the techniques and skills necessary to pursue their career goals. In addition, students have the opportunity to travel to New York City and Chicago to experience the interior design profession first-hand.
Whether CCS graduates choose to work at local interior design firms or at large multi-national corporations, there are many career opportunities available. By providing internships and studio projects, CCS ensures students are prepared for a career upon graduation.
