New Student Check-in

Next Steps

  • Reserve your space by paying your $100 commitment fee.
  • Request that your final official transcript from high school with a graduation date, Advance Placement test scores and official college transcript(s) (if applicable) be sent to the Academic Advising and Registration Office. This is mandatory and should be done as soon as possible after completion of all courses so proper credit can be applied towards your student record. Transcripts and AP test scores should be sent to the following address:

ATTN: Coordinator
Academic Advising & Registration Office
College for Creative Studies
201 East Kirby
Detroit, MI 48202

  • You will receive a registration packet in the mail from the Academic Advising & Registration Office. Your packet will contain your New Student Check-In information which includes your Orientation date, your scheduled English Placement Exam (EPE) date (if needed) and your registration materials. You will be required to log into Blackboard to complete your New Student Check-In and confirm your attendance for the EPE and the New Student Orientation. Instructions will be provided.
  • Attend New Student Orientation.

Financial Aid

If you are interested in applying and you are a U.S. citizen, follow the instructions below:

  • Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. CCS' Federal School Code is 006771.
  • Once you have received your Financial Aid Notification letter from CCS, sign and return one copy to the Office of Financial Aid.
  • If you decide to accept the Stafford loans included on your FA notification letter, complete the Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (see Loan Information book for instructions).
  • If you need additional funds, review the Loan Information book provided with your FA Notification letter for options.

Students Living On Campus

  • Return all of the following housing paperwork: Housing application and $200 housing deposit, Resident Acknowledgement (signed), First Housing payment of $350, Medical History form and Medical Information form to the Office of Student Life. Housing assignments are made on a first come, first served basis for applicants with a complete housing file.
  • Find a local doctor. It is important to do this now, as your housing application will be placed on the waitlist until this is complete. Call the phone number on the back of your health insurance card and ask for doctors who will be covered by your insurance in Detroit. Then choose and contact the doctor's office to complete the necessary paperwork. Again, it is important to do this with your housing paperwork so that you will be given student housing.
  • Move into the Art Centre Building between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Date tba
