Academic Advising is an important developmental process. Advisors assist students in clarification of life and career goals, and development of educational plans for the realization of these goals.

Students are not required to participate in the academic advising process. However, we strongly recommended all students meet with an advisor in the Academic Advising and Registration Office regarding degree requirements, especially prior to registration periods. This ensures students schedule courses required for graduation, and focus on achieving educational goals. Students must meet with a staff advisor before dropping a course.

Staff advisors in the Academic Advising and Registration Office review each student's academic evaluation to evaluate the student's academic progress. Advisors will contact students if concerns arise. Staff advisors are available year-round to provide a full range of academic advising services, including responding to questions regarding transfer credit, course equivalencies from other colleges and universities, transferring departments, etc.

Students are also assigned a faculty mentor by their department chair or administrator upon entry. Students will remain with that mentor throughout their CCS career, unless they desire or initiate a change. Students are expected to meet with mentors at least twice per semester for portfolio reviews, general career guidance, discussion of industry trends, etc.
