The College for Creative Studies, one of the nation's leading art education institutions, provides a dynamic learning environment where students explore issues of art and design, while preparing for careers in the professional world. In addition, we offer non-credit courses in the visual arts through our Continuing Education programs and provide opportunities for youth through Community Arts Partnerships.

With activities spread all around Detroit and Windsor the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) June 25 – 28 offers great events for the whole family - watch movies under the stars at the free drive-ins, walk the red carpet for premieres, laugh with your kids at the free Children's Film Festival and see how the industry works and how you can work for it at TechFair at College for Creative Studies (CCS).

Artists from student organizations at CCS have created "wild" life-size papier-mâché animals representing some of the Detroit Zoo's newest arrivals. The original artworks will be among the items up for bid in the silent auction at the Detroit Zoological Society's annual fundraiser, Sunset at the Zoo, on Friday, June 19.

During the 10th anniversary Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW) Design Challenge, sophomore Transportation Design students at CCS designed vehicle concepts that address the functional needs of a lifestyle vehicle buyer while showing the versatility of glass in providing unique styling as well as utility, comfort and convenience.

CCS Product Design seniors Scott Puckett and Elliott Smith drew from their interest in Detroit’s underground fixed-gear (Fixie) culture to develop Lifecycles a new line of customizable bicycle. The underground Fixie culture connects enthusiasts all over the world who prefer bikes with the rear wheel and pedals connected through a single gear anchored to the wheel.

CCS Illustration students were recently awarded the James S. Goldwasser Award for Excellence in Writing an annual honor given by the CCS Liberal Arts department.

The Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 with a gift from married alumni who met while taking the same class at CCS. Throughout the years the fund has been maintained by gifts from many CCS alumni. CCS freshman, sophomore and junior students enrolled full-time are annually invited to enter the competition, which asks for 3 images of recent work and a statement of intent. This year the competition received 50 entries.
