By invitation only Please join us to view recent accomplishments of CCS BFA and MFA transportation design students and meet industry professionals. Juniors, seniors and December graduates are eager to engage in conversations regarding their design strategies and project outcomes. The exhibition will showcase high efficiency heavy duty truck concepts, automotive interiors and exteriors, shared mobility transportation models and vehicles, future race car designs, exterior lighting concepts for electric vehicles and much more. Terry Smith

Terry Smith, a renowned art and social historian, is one of the world's premier theorists on creating new pathways for how to think about art history. He is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory at the University of Pittsburgh and visiting professor in architecture at the University of Sydney (Australia). Smith's expertise lies in world contemporary art including its practice, theory, institutions and markets. His recent book, What is Contemporary Art?, won him one of the most significant honors in arts criticism, the prestigious Frank Jewett Mather Award, in 2010. His newest book, Contemporary Art: World Currents, is the first comprehensive worldwide survey of contemporary art from the 1980s to present. Smith’s ground-breaking book Making the Modern: Industry, Art and Design in America (University of Chicago Press, 1993) won the inaugural Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Prize in 2009 for the best book on American modernist art published in the past 25 years. Linda Yabblonsky

Linda Yablonsky, writer and art critic, just called Detroit "one of the most fascinating cities in the country" in her three-page spread on our burgeoning art scene in W Magazine (http://www.wmagazine.com/artdesign/2011/11/detroit-art-scene). Come to CCS on November 17 as she elaborates on her findings. Yablonsky is the downtown NYC literary impresario and author who writes the "Scene & Herd" column for Artforum.com. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Art in America, Art + Auction and other art and culture periodicals. She is the author of The Story of Junk: A Novel. Lecture Location: Wendell W.
