Now in its 91st year, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition is the longest-running, most prestigious program in the United States recognizing 7-12 grade students of exceptional artistic and literary talent. The College for Creative Studies annually sponsors the Southeastern Michigan Art Region, including the accompanying exhibit and ceremony.

Last December, the William Davidson Foundation awarded the College for Creative Studies a $2 million grant to support the launch of its two new MFA programs in Color and Materials Design — the first master’s program of its kind in the United States — and Interaction Design, both scheduled to begin fall 2014.

SABIC held a 5-week intensive workshop at CCS for students in the MFA Interdisciplinary Design program. The workshop, "Design for Safety," challenged students to use SABIC's high performance LEXAN™ resin to develop concepts focusing on safety.
