Florence Knoll: Defining Modern - Exhibition

Inspired by an exhibition that originated at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, "Florence Knoll: Defining Modern" includes examples of vintage furniture designed by Florence Knoll as well as video, photographs, and plans and sketches for her interior design projects. As an architect, interior space planner and furniture designer, Florence Knoll profoundly influenced post-World War II design. Her reductive aesthetic, which incorporated light, open spaces furnished with elegant woven fabrics, furniture grouped for informal conversation, and brightly colored wall panels, clearly resonates in the Company's spirit today. Junior Product Design Students Develop Concepts for NIKE

Junior Product Design students are working this semester on a project, sponsored by NIKE, developing footwear solutions for the 2012 Olympian. The students have been researching the needs of Olympic level athletes participating in Fencing, Boxing, BMX Racing, Track & Field, and Basketball and will utilize their research to develop footwear concepts that fit the athletes need.

Michigan National Portfolio Day

On Sunday, October 28th, CCS hosted this year's Michigan National Portfolio Day, organized by the Admissions Office. The event welcomed 35 other colleges of art and design from across the U.S. and Canada, and approximately 1500 prospective students and their families. 273 portfolio reviews were given by CCS Faculty from all of our majors who were on hand to not only give feedback on student work, but provided as information about their programs.
