Moving In
It is very important to arrive on your scheduled move in day, during the allotted times (9 am - 4pm):
Fall 2011 Move-In Dates
New students move-in: Sunday, August 28th from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Returning students move-in: Saturday, September 3rd from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
In order to secure your place in housing, it’s important that you arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on your designated day. We make every effort to move you through the check-in process in a timely manner, but please be aware that you may encounter a line for check-in and a line for the elevators.
If you encounter a problem arriving to campus during your designated move in day and time, please contact the Residence Life Office at 313-664-7678.
All students living in campus housing are required to attend a meeting for residents during the designated time listed below:
Sunday, August 28th ACB Residents – 6:00 p.m. TC Residents – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 3rd ACB Residents – 6:00 p.m. TC Residents – 7:00 p.m.

What happens the day of move-in?
We will make every effort to make your check in and move in as simple as possible. In order to assist us, please note that check in begins at 9:00 a.m.
On move in day, you will:
- Get your picture taken and pick up your Student ID from Campus Safety prior to checking in.
- Collect your keys and final suite assignments in front of the ACB (or in the ACB lobby if it is raining).
- ACB residents will be asked to unload all of your items in front of the ACB and move your car to the parking structure on campus. There are many people checking in at once and everyone's cooperation in moving cars away from the building as quickly as possible is appreciated.
* If possible, bring a cart to haul your belongings. Carts help to make the move a little easier.
The ACB is equipped with 2 passenger elevators. The TC has 3 passenger elevators and a large freight elevator. All large items must go up the freight elevator in the Taubman.
