Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies
Art and Design Focused Charter School
Grades 6,7 and 9 beginning September 2009 - growing to grades 6-12 over the next four years
Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies (HFA: SCS) is an art and design middle and high school opening in September 2009 as a part of a new innovative learning community at Detroit's historic Argonaut building. The school will open in September with grades 6, 7 and 9 and will grow to grades 6-12 over the course of four years. HFA: SCS is being developed jointly by Henry Ford Learning Institute (HFLI), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating public schools in public spaces, and the College for Creative Studies (CCS), a world leader in art and design education. HFA: SCS will be part of a developing national network of small schools in America's urban centers -- all of the schools will be modeled after the groundbreaking Henry Ford Academy education model, first implemented in Dearborn, Michigan.
