Definitions
EFC – The EFC (Expected Family Contribution) is used by colleges to determine a student's financial aid package. It represents the amount of money a family can reasonably be expected to contribute toward college expenses. After completing the FAFSA, a student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that includes the EFC. The Federal Student Aid Office (part of the U.S. Department of Education) determines the EFC through an assessment of income, investments and savings.
Ability – The ability rating is determined by a combination of artisit ability (portfolio) and academic ability (GPA and ACT or SAT scores - test scores not required for transfer students)
