Study Abroad

CSS has a variety of special programs that afford students an opportunity to broaden their educational experience by studying during the summer term with a CCS faculty member or study at another institution for a semester or even a year abroad. To be eligible for all study abroad opportunities, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and written permission from the Associate Dean and the Department Chair. Study for an academic semester or year abroad requires that a student be a junior or in the first semester of the senior year. Participation in one of the summer, faculty-led programs is open to all students, regardless of year. Study abroad during the final semester at CCS is not permitted.

Faculty-Led Programs

Students work with well-known artists and designers, visit studios and museums, and immerse themselves in local art and culture. Qualified students are eligible for three undergraduate or graduate credits.

Student Exchanges

The College for Creative Studies has established formal agreements with several institutions worldwide. Qualified students may study up to 18 credit hours if the appropriate courses are available at the host institution for transfer back to CCS.

Formal exchange or articulation agreements are in place with the following institutions:

  • Burren College of Design Ireland
  • Limkokwing Malaysia
  • Lorenzo De Medici Italy
  • National Cheng Kung University Taiwan
  • Parsons Paris France
  • Pforzheim Germany
  • Strate Design College France
  • Studio Art Center International Italy

Financial Aid & Study Abroad

Students participating in study abroad programs that have received necessary approvals through their department and the Dean's office are eligible to receive their federal and state financial aid, as well as loans through private lenders.

The availability of a student's institutional funding (i.e. CCS Scholarships, Awards & Tuition Grants) will be determined based on a cost comparison between CCS and the school where the study abroad program is to be completed.
