3. 07 Mar 2011 Fibers artist Rowland Ricketts to visit CCS' Crafts Department on March 24

   Rowland Ricketts will visit the Fiber Design section of the Crafts Department sponsored by the Japan Business Society of Detroit. Ricketts is an expert in natural indigo dyeing and traditional Japanese shibori processes. From 1996-1997 he was an apprentice at Nii Indigo Farm in Tokushima, Japan

5. 10 Oct 2010 CCS Crafts alumnus, Adjunct Faculty and metalshop technician recieves fellowship

   Adam Shirley (Crafts, ‘93), adjunct faculty and metalshop technician received his MFA in metalsmithing from Cranbrook Academy of Art in May and also was the recipient of the $10,000 Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship.

6. 08 Sep 2010 Pewabic Pottery to host Crafts Ceramics Section chair Tom Phardel in his first solo exhibition

   Pewabic Pottery is hosting Tom Phardel, crafts ceramics section chair, in his first solo exhibit from September 10 until October 31. Phardel has been chair of the Ceramics Department of CCS since 1988. For the past 25 years he has worked continuously in support of Michigan ceramics, assisting in the launch of the careers of several of his students and serving as curator for exhibitions of other ceramicist's work.

   Alumna Lina Stephens (Crafts ’85) was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of African American Museums at their annual conference in August.

9. 07 May 2010 Winners of the 2010 CCS Alumni Scholarship Competition announced

   CCS full-time freshman, sophomore and junior students participated in the annual CCS Alumni Scholarship Competition. A committee of CCS alumni reviewed the 47 submissions and was impressed by the high caliber of the work.
