Internship Program

The Internship Program allows qualified students to earn academic credit while gaining first-hand experience in their chosen fields. By working in partnership with the business community, CCS is able to provide students with opportunities to face challenges they will encounter after graduation. Internships are available to students with a junior or senior ranking, are offered on a year-round basis and generally last one semester, although they can be extended.

CCS requires that the internship partner provides the following:

  • Career-related work that is challenging, yet appropriate for college level juniors and seniors
  • A clear description of the intern's responsibilities
  • A site supervisor in the intern's field who is willing to actively mentor the student and support his/her professional and creative development
  • Regular feedback and follow-up with the intern to clarify expectations and answer questions
  • A safe working environment
  • A commitment to the intern and the college to provide work for the duration of the semester that requires a minimum of 135 contact hours
  • Completion of the final written evaluation and discussion with the intern at the conclusion of the internship

In addition to internships, an array of companies and organizations sponsor various projects, giving CCS students exposure to real art and design problems and a feel for deadline pressures, client meetings, and budgets. While exploring solutions and interacting in the business world, students learn to become professionals. This close working relationship reaps many benefits for both students and businesses.
