Stephen Schudlich


Stephen William Schudlich combines humor and wit with a flat, saturated palette in his illustrated narratives. He combines an economy of line and shape, with applied typography rooted in classic grid foundations, to deliver his intended visual messages, informational pieces, and marks.


Schudlich has provided work for clients such as The New York Times, The Utne Reader, Newcity, Comedy Central, The Chicago Tribune, The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, and Scholastic. He has also worked with WGBH (Boston), Heineken, and Nike. His illustrations have been an integral part of the global eBay brand and, he illustrated the book "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming," which was published by Scholastic and co-authored by Cambria Gordon and Laurie David, the Oscar winning producer of "An Inconvenient Truth."

His work has been included in The New York Art Directors Annual, Print, How, the AIGA Design Annual, and other professional periodicals and annuals.

It has been exhibited in numerous galleries including The Old Federal Building as part of the inaugural ArtPrize event in Grand Rapids, MI. His work has found purchase within the collection of Valparaiso University as well as many private collections.
