John Hom recently completed his PhD in art education at Ohio State University. He has taught elementary education in Queens where he worked with gifted and talented and language English proficiency (LEP) students.
As an elementary school teacher, he spearheaded staff training in TERC math and prepared teacher kits, organized a grade library by theme and reading levels, and partnered in a number of community educational programs related to the arts. He has presented papers at a number of academic conferences and forums on education, exhibited as a fine artist, and participated in international programs in South America, Europe, and Asia. He has received several grants and awards, including National Endowment for the Humanities awards for the study of First Nations and myths and folk tales.
