Judi Bommarito is a Detroit based photographer, who for the past fifteen years has been an adjunct instructor at the College for Creative Studies, where she also received her BFA with honors.
She is also a lead mentor for Focus Hope: Focus on the Mission which is an annual diversity and leadership program.
Bommarito is currently immersed in a photo documentary series that confronts and challenges and stigma connected to mental illness titled, “Clipped.” Three images from the series have recently received grand prize and juror selection recognition, by juror Mary Ellen Mark, in the Professional Women’s Photography International Competition.
Bommarito is also a featured artist in IMPRINTS summer magazine for her "Clipped" work. The series has been given multiple awards, including an invitation to Review Santa Fe, an honorable mention award in the International Photographers Award (Lucies) in which over 10,000 images were submitted and the DCCP, in Detroit. The series also received juror finalist recognition in the Grand Prix De Decouverte in Paris and most recently, was nominated for the 5th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Award and a Photolucida Critical Mass finalist.
