Motivated by mythmaking, poetics and Jungian concepts, Sherry examines fragmented states of consciousness through collaboration, lens-based media and installation.

Raised in Detroit, Sherry earned a Master of Fine Art in Interdisciplinary Lens Based Media from the National University of Ireland Galway, Burren College of Art in 2017 and both a Master of Art Education and a Bachelor of Fine Art with High Honor in Graphic Design from Michigan State University in 1977. Her career in the arts has encompassed a wide array of interdisciplinary interests and experiences ranging from co-founder of One-Twenty in the Shade Art Gallery (Lansing, MI) to technical director for The Asia Society (New York City). Since 1988, she has been the Vice President of Education for GOH Productions, a non-profit international arts services organization based in New York City. Sherry Erskine’s extensive thirty-five year teaching career includes public school visual art (K-8), theater craft (6-12) and college level art education. 

Sherry Erskine's art work in lens based media, performance and installation recently earned awards including being long-listed by the Royal Dublin Society Visual Art Awards (2017), selected to round two by Aesthetica Magazine (2016), short-listed by Gallery 126 Open Call (2016), The Royal College of Art and Design London Exchange Residency Program (2016), NEA-funding through the Bay Area Video Coalition San Francisco, for video preservation (2015), and an artist residency at Polli Talu Fine Arts Center in Estonia (2013).
