POSITION DESCRIPTION

The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for an adjunct position in the Foundation department with experience in 2D Design. This position reports to the Chair of the Foundation department within the Undergraduate Studies Division. Classes are scheduled based on availability and may vary each semester. Most classes will require the adjunct to teach on-site.

More About the Position:
This position requires strengths in mentoring and motivation of students to achieve their full potential in accomplishing work that meets college-level standards as established by the department. The candidate must be able to effectively teach the principles, vocabulary and mechanics of two-dimensional design including:

  • Point, Line, Shape, Typographic Forms.
  • Positive Negative Spatial Relationships
  • Structure, Balance, Scale
  • Pattern and Repetition
  • The Dimensions of Space: 0D, 1D, 2D, 3D
  • Exploration and application of color theory
  • Adobe Illustrator Basics 
  • Light, Wavelength, Color Relativity
  • Some knowledge of Color Theory History and Color Systems: Pigment, Print, Digital


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, an MFA is preferred. A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching at the college level is required. Candidates who are dedicated to establishing themselves as an active part of the art community are also highly preferred.
