POSITION DESCRIPTION
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for adjunct faculty members to teach business studies. Experience teaching business classes at the college or university level is absolutely essential. Experience with Canvas and an understanding of the world of art and design are considerable advantages. The posts require teaching both on campus and remotely – please do not apply if you can only work remotely. Teaching is needed for a variety of courses in the Fall of 2023, as well as new special projects requiring expertise in branding, marketing, and other areas of interest to students of art and design, e.g.:
Business Practices: This course introduces contemporary business theories, trend analysis, and branding techniques and practices. Students learn and use basic project management principles, project costing models, and the elements of business plan design.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Graduate Studies at CCS is seeking accomplished professional art educators and academics with proven experience in online teaching and curriculum development: Under the direction of the Chair of Art Education, Adjunct Faculty (Instructors) will teach courses which will involve the following essential accountabilities:

Teach and successfully deliver a maximum two sections per semester

Prepare syllabus for the review of the Department Chair

Complete all teaching as required by the College

Complete training in Canvas and use it as required by the department and College

Attend all Liberal Arts Department meetings and at least one professional development training course per year

Deal promptly with all administrative responsibilities attached to this work
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Business teaching experience in a college or university setting is very highly desirable.
- MA, MBA or equivalent business experience, and expertise in business ownership, especially in the creative fields of art and design, is very highly desirable.
- Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse student and community populations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required. CCS will make reasonable accommodations that will allow individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
