The College for Creative Studies is committed to partnering with community college transfer advisors, faculty, department chairs, and other staff who may counsel students on transferring to a four-year institution to continue on to a four-year degree. 

 


Virtual Professional Development Online Workshops

February 17th
1-3:30 p.m.

CCS is offering professional development workshops for art educators. The workshops will be offered live over zoom on February 17, 2023 from 1-3:30 p.m. School districts can sign up for workshops as a whole and let their teachers choose between four professional development programs. Each educator will earn 2.5 SCECH points.

Workshop Options:

Intro to Design Thinking
Learn the essential skills needed to approach creative problem solving and about the steps of the Design Thinking process. This fun and interactive workshop will invite teachers to participate, practice and reflect throughout a hands-on design challenge.

STEAM in the Art Room
Learn how to incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math into your Visual Arts practice. This workshop will include material experimentation (with items commonly found in the art room), group discussion, content differentiation options and personal practice to create two finished projects. Teachers will also walk away with several tested lesson plans in each area of STEAM to try out with your students.

Visual Thinking Strategies
Learn how to integrate the powerful tool of VTS in your art classroom. This workshop will cover the basics of VTS, helpful tips for success, provide facilitator coaching strategies, content suggestions and more. Teachers will participate, practice and refine their skills through group-led exercises as well as take several image selections and starting prompts with them to use in their own classrooms.

Technology: Simple Stop Motion Animation
Used alongside traditional art materials and techniques, technology can enrich student learning experiences in art. Learn how to introduce and properly execute a fun and engaging project such as stop motion animation, using only an app on your phone or tablet and basic classroom supplies. This workshop will include live demonstrations and group participation.

Assistant Director of Admissions, Brandi Keeler, offers up some tips and guidance for preparing a portfolio for CCS application. Take a look and share with your students!

How to Draw a Car

Learn how to draw a car with this easy-to-follow video featuring CCS Transportation Design Chair, Paul Snyder. High school students can apply for the Dunning Automotive Competition. Winners will be awarded the opportunity to attend CCS’s Precollege Summer Experience “Dunning Automotive Design” program & earn three college credits free of charge!
