For International Students
We bring the international community to CCS and ensure that international students thrive here.
Through the enrollment of international students and by coordinating study abroad opportunities, we foster an atmosphere of dynamic idea exchange among students and faculty. A diversity of cultures, ideas, points of view, and methods of creative expression form an integral element of the educational experience at CCS. The work of the ISSO serves to enrich student and faculty experience, is crucial to academic success at CCS, and ensures alumni success in the creative workplace beyond.

International Student Orientation
Each year, in collaboration with the Student Success Center, the ISSO hosts a week-long International Student Orientation. This special orientation for incoming international students takes place the week ahead of New Student Orientation.
Giving international students the opportunity to move into campus early, the week is full of events and opportunities specially designed to give new international students the tools and time they need to begin acclimating to a new culture and city. International orientation serves as an official welcome to the CCS creative community. Some of the highlights of International Orientation include:
- Basics: cell phones, bank accounts, drivers’ licenses, etc.
- Familiarization with immigration rules and regulations
- Academic advising, registration, and class schedules
- Workshops for academic success strategies, English language preparation, and cultural acclimation
- Campus tours
- The City of Detroit
- Shopping trips
During International Orientation, new students begin making friendships and connections that will last for their entire academic program at CCS, and beyond.
