Winter 2023 Orientation

To best prepare you for CCS, New Student Orientation provides you with the information you need to know before coming to campus. New students will complete Pre-Orientation modules via our online Peacock Pride platform prior to our in-person New Student Orientation.

  • Pre-Orientation launches on Tuesday, January 3, 2023
  • New Student Orientation takes place in person on Friday, January 6 from 10:00am – 3:00pm in the Walter B Ford building on the CCS Ford Campus

All new students will be emailed in December to create their Peacock Pride accounts in preparation for Pre-Orientation. Additional information and instructions for accessing the Pre-Orientation content will be sent out in mid-December.

Pre-Orientation and New Student Orientation are mandatory for all new, incoming students (first-time, transfer, and International students). More information can be found in the dropdown menus below.

New Student Orientation (All Undergraduate Students)

Pre-Orientation

Launching on January 3, 2023

The online Pre-Orientation provides an introduction to CCS and all it has to offer. Made up of video presentations, the online format is designed for new students to progress through the Pre-Orientation content at their own pace. Pre-Orientation topics include: financial aid, campus technology and information systems, campus safety, and more. Pre-Orientation modules will be available on January 3rd and must be completed by January 31st.

 

New Student Orientation

Friday, January 6 from 10:00am – 3:00pm in the Walter B Ford Building

New Student Orientation takes place in person on Friday, January 6. It is an exciting day that equips you with the tools you need in order to be successful at CCS. This is a chance for you to get to know your campus resources and fellow classmates. The Orientation session will include presentations from campus resources such as Academic Advising, the Center for Tutoring & Writing, Counseling + Wellness, and more!

 

International Student Check-In

Pre-Departure PDF Guide:
As a new student, you will have a pre-departure guide prepared for you. This useful reference will be emailed to you to help you plan for your move to Detroit. This document will be mailed to you ahead of your travel to CCS.

Introduction to International Student Resources:
What: An “Introduction to International Student Resources” tutorial Please review this online tutorial before coming to CCS.
When: Launched on August 15th, 2022
How: Online module link emailed to all new international students.
Where: Online

New International Student Check-In:
What: The International Student Service Office (ISSO) will host a Mandatory in-person event. You will officially Check-In once you are in the USA at this event, receive the required signature on your form I-20, submit important documents, and receive important information about CCS and Detroit. And meet your new friends and colleagues!
When: August 30th, 2022
How: In-person
Where: A full agenda will be provided by email

Airport & Entry Information:
Booking your flights? We recommend DTW, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, usually called “Metro Airport,” or just “DTW.” This is a major international airport located outside the city. Please keep in mind that approved (WHO or DCD) COVID vaccines are required for entry to the USA in addition to a negative COVID-19 test. More travel information here.
